International Children’s Bunko Association (ICBA) is a self-help response to the growing number of bilingual and bicultural young children who need opportunities to keep, use and also develop one of their two languages in situations where there is little or no opportunity to use their other language. Many of these children may have lived overseas with their parents and attended local or International Schools or be members of bi-national families, where two or more languages are spoken. ICBA is a voluntary organisation run by parents and other adults who want to work with bilingual and
bicultural children and help them, through sharing picture books and related activities, to be proud of their other language and enjoy using it with other children and adults. IC Bunko exist globally. If you think one of our Bunko can help your child or you would like to help us on a
voluntary basis to organise Bunko or open a new Bunko, please read on. This year, ICBA is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its founding!! To celebrate the ICBA's 30th Anniversary, UK Branch has organised our get together celebration on Saturday 10th October 2009 at the Japanese School in West Acton. With support and help from Japan-UK 150, The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, JAL and Nippon Club, UK branch invited Theatre Group ''DE-E-KU'' from Japan to perform for this occasion. ICBA organised further performances by ''DE-E-KU'' in Cambrige, Canterbury and London. The details of the schedule is as followed.
